Had great fun last week playing with the code Simon wrote following along Daniel Shiffman’s RiTa.JS tutorial. The code generated words from the built-in RiTa lexicon, and that lexicon is huge (tens of thousands of words – enough to intimidate even the best English speakers). The abbreviations for parts of speech in the code are standard abbreviations from the Alphabetical list of PENN part-of-speech tags that can be found here: http://rednoise.org/rita/reference/PennTags.html


Just a few examples of what we got by programming random substitution of all nouns, adjectives and verbs:
