Happy or eery?

Here is an update of Simon’s learning to play the piano: Beethoven is still his favourite, but he generally seems to be enjoying a broad variety of composers. He’s been playing many pieces, including Gounod, Bartok, Leopold Mozart, Rubenstein, Schubert, Puccini and even a very talented blind co-student. His main interest shifted from pure musical theory to playing combinations of chords and testing which emotions they invoke, based on the theory that once the chord includes keys located more than 3,5 tones apart it will sound “happy”, and otherwise unhappy or even eery (if the keys are really close together, like a half-tone distance). He has also become much more coherent and pleasant to listen to in his improvisations and practicing chord combinations.
