Simon is unstoppable now. On some days, like yesterday, he does something like 5 or even 6 hours of maths. He is entertaining himself by drawing goniometric circles and trying to figure out the sinus and the cosinus of an angle, or by calculating the area of a shape and saying all the steps he takes out loud in English, or by building a graph of “2 to the power of x”. “Mom, I know what 2 to the power of minus 2 is!”
We have been observing him drift towards doing more complex mathematical problems and inventing new “games” for himself now that he is not limited in his curriculum. What he also takes particular pleasure in doing is creating mathematical aid charts and games in Microsoft Word, like the addition-substraction chart here below. I asked him if he would like to learn to program to turn these into interactive tablet apps, but he says he is still “half shy” to do that. He says he is also too shy to make his own video tutorials.
